How long have you been playing lacrosse?: Almost 7 years.

What is your favorite aspect of lacrosse?: I love my teammates. I’ve had a lot of fun when I’m around them – especially during the summer tournaments. I think they are great people!

Do you have a favorite moment or memory from a lacrosse game?: I enjoy seeing new players being introduced to lacrosse and helping them build confidence on the field. I had a couple of friends last spring try rec lacrosse for the first time and both had an amazing first season! It was fun to share those moments with them as their teammate.

Is there a coach or athlete that you look up to as a role model and why?: My role model is my dad. He’s been coaching me in our town’s rec lacrosse program and on my travel soccer team since I started playing when I was 6. He has shared his love of sports with me, especially lacrosse and soccer. My dad has taught me to never give up even when things don’t go your way, in sports or in life in general.

Have you ever suffered a major sports related injury?: If so, how do you feel that improved your game? I tore my ACL during Triple Threat Elite try-outs in July 2021. I was the youngest patient my physical therapist had ever treated for this injury when I started seeing him when I was 12. I am currently in recovery but am feeling stronger than ever. I miss playing but have had the opportunity to go to practice to watch my teammates and learn new plays. This has given me a new perspective for when I am able to get back on the field and play later this spring!

Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of sports?: Other than lacrosse and soccer, I enjoy baking and hanging out with friends.

How does being an athlete inspire you to do good?: It teaches me to never give up and to learn from my mistakes.

How long have you been playing lacrosse?: 4 years

What is your favorite aspect of lacrosse?: My favorite aspect about lacrosse is that it is a high-intensity game where I’m able to improve my mental and physical game while being on a team.

Do you have a favorite moment or memory from a lacrosse game?: My favorite memory from a lacrosse game would be when I scored my first game-winning goal on my Rec team a few years ago. When I first started playing, I was uneasy about the sport, but I quickly fell in love with the game.

Who do you look up to?: I look up my Triple Threat coach, Michael Capone. Coach Capone’s passion for the game and always working to make each of his players better is one of the reasons why we have such a strong team. His dedication to the team and uplifting pep talks makes our performances better, while keeping everything fun.

Have you ever suffered a major sports-elated injury? If so, how do you feel that improved your game?: Over the summer at the Junior Women’s U.S. Nationals, I tore my ACL and both my meniscuses while playing defense. This experience has given me the opportunity to analyze the game from off the field and improve my game from the sideline through a coaching perspective.

Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of sports?: My injury has given me the chance to explore other interests I have outside of sports over the course of the school year. I enjoy acting in plays in my school’s drama cub, learning sign language, and learning how to code. I also like to paint and draw in my spare time.

How does being an athlete inspire you to do good?: Being a teammate and working towards improving your own game not only makes you a good athlete, but it also gives you the motivation to accomplish goals outside of lacrosse.

How long have you been playing lacrosse?:I have been playing lacrosse for 10 years.

What is your favorite aspect of lacrosse?: I love the competitive nature of lacrosse and my teammates.

Do you have a favorite moment of memory from a lacrosse game?: Oak Knoll winning the TOC on June 19th. Even though I was injured and unable to play, being part of such an amazing team and winning the TOC title was unreal.

Have you ever suffered a major sports related injury? If so, how do you feel that improved your game?: I am recovering from a stress fracture in my hip. I did not need surgery, but the healing process feels like forever. I am more motivated to recover, get fit, and prepare for my senior season of high school lacrosse. This injury changed my perspective as well. I know that I cannot take a single practice or game for granted and I need to always give my all.

Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of sports?: I like to golf, read, and play instruments. I can play the guitar and piano.

How does being an athlete inspire you to do good?: Being an athlete inspires me to work hard and challenge myself. Playing lacrosse has taught me how to win with humility and lose with grace. Being an athlete allows me to channel my competitiveness and has taught me a lot about myself. At Oak Knoll we sponsor a kid through the Casey Powell World Lacrosse Foundation each year. This serves as a constant reminder that I play for something bigger than myself.

What is your favorite aspect of lacrosse?: My favorite aspect is the people that lacrosse has brought me close with and the friendships I have made while playing throughout the years.

Do you have a favorite moment or memory from a lacrosse game?: This year was the first official high school season that I could actually play in, and we won the conference championship in overtime, which was a really exciting game to be a part of!

Is there a coach or athlete that you look up to as a role model and why?: My siblings, Tyler Luke and Tristin are all athletes and I look up to them a lot because they are all hard workers and have a great attitude no matter what they are doing. How long have you been playing lacrosse?: I have been playing lacrosse for 10 years. My mom played in college, so the first thing she did was hand me a stick and I haven’t put it down since.

What is your favorite aspect of lacrosse?: My favorite aspect of lacrosse is the creativity. Learning the game, and then making it your own. I’ve enjoyed developing my style of play and love recognizing other people’s distinct techniques.

Do you have a favorite moment or memory from a lacrosse game?: Back when I first started lacrosse, I remember being on attack and calling for the ball from a defender all the way across the field. She launched the ball down the field to me, and I actually caught the long pass, and ran down to offense. I remember catching the ball so vividly because it was a rush I had never felt before, and I can still remember how I felt in that moment.

Is there a coach or athlete that you look up to as a role model and why?: I’ve been coached by Julia Featherman for a long time, and she is definitely a role model for me. She helped me with my injury rehabilitation mentally and physically and is overall a very strong and very wise person. I want to use my experiences to help others as she does.

Have you ever suffered a major sports related injury? If so, how do you feel that improved your game?: I tore my ACL in January 2020. I was lucky to have surgery a few weeks before the shutdown, and I spent the entirety of quarantine in physical therapy. It improved my game by taking the game away. I realized just how much I love lacrosse when I was unable to play, and it refocused me. Now that I am back on the field, I realize it was almost a blessing in disguise.

Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of sports?: I like to draw, paint, write, play field hockey, watch Joan Crawford movies, read, blast music in the car, and spend time with family and friends.

How does being an athlete inspire you to do good?: Playing lacrosse is the biggest endorphin rush, and I love the feeling of doing well. When I am doing good off of the field, that feeling is magnified by 1000. Especially having recovered from a major injury, it is really fulfilling.

How long have you been playing lacrosse: I have been playing since 7th grade, so about 5 years.

What is your favorite aspect of lacrosse: When something you worked hard on in practice transfers perfectly into your game, and you find the time put in pays off. Also, I love the competitiveness!

Do you have a favorite memory or moment from a lacrosse game?: The most vivid memory in a lacrosse game is the first goal I ever scored in 7th grade. I had absolutely no idea what I was doing and was so nervous about making any mistakes. I remember shooting and immediately my entire team ran to hug me! In that moment I felt a sense of friendship and support that I had never felt in any other sport and I knew that lacrosse was going to be important to me for the rest of my life.

Is there a coach or athlete that you look up to as a role model and why?: Throughout my recovery process and beyond, I have strongly looked up to the Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn. She has such an incredible work ethic and consistently pushed herself within the guidelines of safe recovery. She has gone through numerous ACL and knee injuries, yet still won a gold medal for the United States. She taught me to focus on what you can control, and to put in the work on your own.

Have you ever suffered a major sports related injury? If so, how do u feel it improved your game?: Two weeks before my freshman season I tore my ACL and was out until the following season. There is almost nothing worse as an athlete than having to sit on the sideline when all you want to do is be on the field with your friends. Although difficult, I believe this injury helped me grow mentally and physically as a player. It made me appreciate the ability to be an athlete much more, and allowed me to focus on the basics. My goal through recovery was to be able to step on the field and immediately make an impact after being cleared. For me, this meant improving my cardio and stick skills.

Do you have any other hobbies or interests outside of sports?: Outside of lacrosse, I love making art. It’s my way to relax and disconnect from the craziness.

How does being an athlete inspire you to do good?: Being an athlete inspires me to take care of myself, and to help those who are going through similar situations that I went through. Unfortunately ACL injuries are incredibly common in lacrosse and so many of my friends and teammates have experienced it also. I try to support my friends and teammates through injuries as much as I can, because they are so much easier to overcome when there is someone there with you.
