Pre and Post Operative Physical Therapy in NJ, NY, & PA
When surgery is needed for an orthopedic injury, our clinicians at JAG Physical Therapy are trained in pre and post-operative care to assist with your recovery.
The most common surgeries that require physical and occupational therapy are partial and total joint replacements. The knee, hip, and shoulder are the most commonly replaced joints. Other surgical procedures, like those used to repair serious fractures or other trauma, also require physical or occupational therapy in order to achieve the best possible clinical outcome.
Common orthopedic procedures include:
- Ankle fractures
- Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury
- Meniscus repairs
- Labrum repairs
- Rotator cuff injuries
- Osgood-Schlatter Disease
- Wrist/forearm fractures
- Stress fractures
- Tendinitis
- Total joint reconstruction
Coping with Post-Operative Pain
JAG Physical Therapy is here to help you cope with post-operative rehabilitation, and guide you on the path to a full recovery from your procedure. Our team of clinicians are trained in post-operative care to assist in your recovery, as well as help prevent an injury from reoccurring. Our post-op treatments range from total hip and total knee replacements, to lumbar and cervical disc surgeries, to fracture repairs and arthroscopic procedures for the hip, ankle, shoulder, and knee.
Post-Operative Physical Therapy in New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania
Post-operative care at JAG Physical Therapy can begin as soon as the patient returns home from their procedure, or in cases of immobilization, as soon as the doctor gives clearance. Our team of skilled physical and occupational therapists will develop a customized recovery plan, based on injury, age, and body type. In the instance where immobilization does not allow the patient to see one of our staff, an at-home program may be developed until immobilization has been lifted by the doctor. Common post-operative movements involve range of motion exercises to improve joint and muscle mobility, transfer training from chairs or beds to standing, isometric strengthening, and gait training with assistive devices on both flat surfaces and chairs.
