How do you ensure you are prepared to act in the event of a cardiac emergency? The National Football League (NFL) announced the launch of The Smart Heart Sports Coalition, which is a collaboration between a multitude of professional sport leagues and health organizations to ensure that all 50 states adopt evidence-based policies that will prevent fatal outcomes from Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA). The coalition is advocating for the implementation of Emergency Action Plans (EAPs) for every high school venue, Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) being available at each high school athletic venue, and CPR and AED education for coaches in all high school settings.
In New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania, JAG PT Athletic Trainers (ATs) are on the scene each day at our exclusive athletic training partnership sites ensuring that their EAPs are up to date based on best practices, as well as distributed, posted, and rehearsed.
